Parishioners and friends are cordially invited to the opening event in the 175th anniversary celebration of the Cathedral of St. Matthew Apostle as a parish, Choral Vespers, an Ecumenical Prayer Service, to be held at 3pm, Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Cathedral.
Thirteen neighboring Christian parishes have been invited to this special service. Renowned Rev. Cheryl Sanders, Professor at Howard University School of Divinity and Senior Pastor of the Third Street Church of God, will give the Gospel reflection, and three of the surrounding parish leaders will offer prayers.
This observance will take place on the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, the final day in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. All are invited to this opportunity to pray together, to be inspired by the Cathedral Schola’s music, and to join in the reception following.
