Ordination to the Diaconate

Congratulations and Prayers

Bro. Thomas Davenport, O.P., a Dominican friar studying for the priesthood and currently assigned to St. Matthew’s, was ordained a Transitional Deacon on Saturday, March 5. He will serve as deacon and preach for the first time at the Cathedral’s 11:30am Mass on Sunday, March 6, and will preside at our monthly Eucharisitc Holy Hour on Monday, March 14.

Physician-assisted Suicide Legislation in MD

The Maryland General Assembly will soon begin hearings on the “End of Life Option Act” (House Bill 404/Senate Bill 418), which if enacted would allow doctors to legally prescribe a lethal medication at the request of a patient who has been diagnosed as terminally ill. Before we approach the mystery of the passion, death, and resurrection of the Lord, we must purify our eyes and convert our hearts. The Community of Sant’Egidio in Washington, DC invites you to share their common prayer every Tuesday during Lent at 12:45pm in Saint Anthony’s Chapel.
