Happy 44th, Monsignor!
Msgr. W. Ronald Jameson celebrated his 44th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood of Jesus Christ on May 18, 2012. Our rectory priests (from left to right - Fr. Jack Hurley, Fr. Evelio Menjivar, Fr. Mark Knestout and Fr. Kevin Regan) celebrated with Msgr. Jameson (far left, seated) at a dinner out − a special occasion particularly given the rarity of all five priests coming together at table!
They hit upon an interesting fact while dining—their cumulative years of priestly service is 100! Rounding our Msgr. Jameson's 44 years is Fr. Jack at 30, Fr. Mark at 14, Fr. Evelio at 8 and Fr. Kevin at 4.
Msgr. Jameson in a 2011 letter to parishioners reminisced a bit about his day of days:
". . . I was ordained a priest by Cardinal O’Boyle right here at St. Matthew’s Cathedral. I remember the day so well—it was sunny and warm, and a busload of people came from St. Bernard’s in Riverdale where I had served as a deacon. I never dreamed then that I would return to the Cathedral, not once but twice. Less than five years later, I returned as an associate at St. Matthew’s and the Director of the Liturgy Office for the Archdiocese. In my first life, I spent eleven years here at the Archdiocese’s Mother Church, and in 1995 I began my second life here with my appointment as Rector."
Congratulations to our Cathedral Rector on this milestone as we look forward to celebrating his 45th!
