A member of our parish Evangelization Committee has passed along the word about Flockquote, a website that allows you to sign up to receive "a little bit of the Catechism emailed to you every morning. Read that little bit every day and you'll read the whole catechism in a year." To sign up at Flockquote, click here and start nurturing your faith in a new way!

Our Year of Faith

With his Apostolic Letter of October 11, 2011, Porta Fidei, Pope Benedict XVI declared that a "Year of Faith" will begin on October 11, 2012 and conclude on November 24, 2013. October 11, 2012, the first day of the Year of Faith, is the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II) and also the twentieth anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. "The 'door of faith' (Acts14:27) is always open for us, ushering us into the life of communion with God and offering entry into his Church." (Pope Benedict XVI, Apostolic Letter Porta Fidei for the Indiction of the Year of Faith.)

St.Matthew’s parish celebration of the Year of Faith begins with an exploration of the documents of Vatican II in ourfive-part Fall Lecture series, Celebrating Vatican II. For a schedule of the Fall Series lectures, click here

Later this Fall, look for news of “Living Catholic,” a short online course based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church that will be offered here at St. Matthew’s in early 2013. “Living Catholic” is designed to help us re-learn the beautiful truths of our Catholic faith, combining the themes of prayer, parish life and evangelization.
