On Sunday, January 25, 2015, Msgr. Jameson and the Cathedral clergy, staff and hospitality volunteers welcomed many parishioners and friends for Choral Vespers, an Ecumenical Prayer Service, with Msgr. Jameson presiding, music by our Schola Cantorum, a Gospel reflection by Rev. Cheryl Sanders, Pastor of the Third Street Church of God, and a musical reflection by Evelyn Simpson Curenton. In their statement on Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, the U.S. Catholic bishops apply Catholic teaching to many important issues affecting human life and dignity. One issue is "affordable and accessible health care" for all, which is "an essential safeguard or human life and a fundamental human right." They bishops also note that we should be able to provide healthcare without compromising religious convictions.
