Pope Francis' visit to St. Matthew's Cathedral, long impressed on our hearts, is now memorialized in a commemorative plaque on the wall behind the statue of Mother Teresa and the Homeless Man.
The 7am Mass is cancelled from Monday, April 4 through Friday, April 8 due to the vacations of two of our rectory priests and the unavailability of several regular extern priests. We regret any inconvenience.
Our parish is participating in Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Rice Bowl program as a way to encounter Jesus through others, especially through the most vulnerable in the world. Your Rice Bowl donations will be collected after Masses this weekend, April 2-3. Thank you for your participation.
Bro. Thomas Davenport, O.P., a Dominican friar studying for the priesthood and currently assigned to St. Matthew’s, was ordained a Transitional Deacon on Saturday, March 5. He will serve as deacon and preach for the first time at the Cathedral’s 11:30am Mass on Sunday, March 6, and will preside at our monthly Eucharisitc Holy Hour on Monday, March 14.
The Maryland General Assembly will soon begin hearings on the “End of Life Option Act” (House Bill 404/Senate Bill 418), which if enacted would allow doctors to legally prescribe a lethal medication at the request of a patient who has been diagnosed as terminally ill.
