Summer Semester 2012
Classes on conversing in English will be offered during the Summer Semester of our ESL Program which will be held June 5 – August 1 on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Students may register, in person, starting June 5, between 6:30 and 8:30pm, at St. Matthew’s Education Center, 1726 N Street, N.W. Language instruction will be provided at Level 1 (Beginner) through Level 4 (Advanced). At registration, each student will be assessed to determine the appropriate class level in which he/she will be placed. Student registrations will be accepted until June 20. The cost of the 9-week program is $25. There will be no classes the week of July 4, Independence Day. For more information, please contact the ESL Program Coordinator at stmattseslprogram@gmail.com.
Fall Semester 2012
Our regular 12-week program of English classes will be held September 18 – December 6 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm, with optional pre-class tutoring between 6 and 6:30pm. Language instruction will be provided at Level 1 (Beginner) through Level 5 (Advanced).
Spring Semester 2013
Our regular 12-week program of English classes will begin in January, with classes held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm, and optional pre-class tutoring between 6 and 6:30pm. Language instruction will be provided at Level 1 (Beginner) through Level 5 (Advanced).
Clases de Inglés para Adultos
Semestre de verano 2012 - conversand0 en inglés
Se ofrecerán clases de conversación en inglés durante el semestre de verano de nuestro Programa de ESL comenzando el 5 de junio – 1 de agosto los martes y los miércoles en la noche de 6:30 - 8:30. Los estudiantes pueden matricularse en persona, comenzando el 5 de junio, entre las 6:30 y las 8:30 de la noche, en el Centro Educativo de San Mateo, en el 1726 de la calle N. Las clases de lenguaje serán ofrecidas del nivel 1 (principiante) al nivel 4 (avanzado). Durante las matriculas, cada estudiante recibirá un breve examen para determinar cual es el nivel de clase mas apropiado para el/ella. Los estudiantes se podrán registrar hasta el 20 de junio. Las clases de lenguaje serán ofrecidas del nivel 1 (principiante) al nivel 5 (avanzado).

Volunteers Needed for ESL Program -
Teachers, Tutors & Persons of Hospitality
We are looking for volunteers to serve as teachers, tutors, and persons of hospitality one night per week (Tuesday or Wednesday) in the Summer Semester of our ESL Program, which will extend from June 5 to August 1. Please see above for more details. There will be no classes the week of the Fourth of July. While volunteers are not required to have formal training in teaching English as a second language, we expect their native language to be English. Classes will be taught in English only. If you are not comfortable teaching a class on your own, we can pair you with a more experienced teacher.
