"Awakening to the Presence of God: Prayer in Lent" - A Lenten Lecture

March 24, 2020 note from Theresa Prymuszewski, Pastoral Associate for Faith Formation, on this well-received talk by L.J. Milone:

"As we all practicing social distancing at this time, it is good to remember that there is no distancing in prayer. In prayer, we practice emotional and spiritual intimacy with God and each other, the communion of saints and angels in heaven. I offer this Prayer Practice resource from L.J. Milone’s March 10 Lenten lecture, ”Awakening to the Presence of God: Prayer in Lent.” Adopting these Christian prayer practices can deepen our relationship with God. During his lecture, L.J. cited acclaimed Jesuit theologian, Karl Rahner (paraphrasing): 'many have entered the kingdom without the sacraments, but none without prayer.'  It is good to remember during this time when the communal celebration of Mass is suspended, that our personal prayer contributes to the sanctification of the world."

Lenten Series

Our Lenten Lecture series focuses on the three pivotal spiritual practices for our personal and communal Lenten journey of faith: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Go deeper into these three forms of expression of interior penance, which for Christians are said to express conversion in relation to oneself, to God, and to others.
