Sidewalk Ministry to the Homeless

Our parish Monday morning ministry to the homeless has continued, with proper precautions, through these months of the pandemic.

Beginning March 16, 2020, the Monday after St. Matthew's Parish facilities closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, St. Matthew’s Homeless ministry staff led by Norma Canedo and Fr. John Benson, and generous volunteers, began serving up to 60 lunches to our guests at a morning sidewalk session in front of the Cathedral. Thanks to our committed volunteers!

How can you help?

  • Sign up to donate fruit, hard boiled eggs, or individually packaged breakfast food once a month.
  • Donate gently worn men’s clothing items, in particular: shoes, coats, jackets, jeans, durable pants and belts (no suits, dress pants or dress shirts, please) (must schedule drop-off).
  • We are currently at capacity with volunteers, but feel free to email us to remain on our contact list so we may reach out to you once we are in need of new volunteers.

To help in any of these ways, please contact Norma Canedo
