21 September, 12:00 P.M. (Noon) – 1:00 P.M. Season of Creation Film Luncheon – Big Oil's Last Lifeline: Part 3 - West Virginia, 2022
Film Screening & Discussion
As we follow the toxic trail of the petrochemical industry, we hear from some of the bravest advocates who currently reside in New Orleans, Louisiana and the Cancer Alley that are being exposed to these petrochemical toxins putting them at risk of losing their lives all for the monetary greed and profit of the oil, gas, coal, and petrochemical industries. The fossil fuel industry is dying out as we transition to clean energy and electric vehicles. But in order to hold on to dear life they are trying to make a big pivot to plastics as their new big business. Petrochemicals are the building blocks for plastics, pesticides, clothing, digital devices, and other common products. They are made from oil and natural gas, and contaminate air, water and soil. Emissions from petrochemical production account for 10 to 15 percent of the U.S.’s climate pollution.
