Rector Announces Cathedral Reopening and Guide for Participation at Masses

In a letter to parishioners dated June 22, 2020 the Cathedral Rector, Msgr. W. Ronald Jameson, announced the reopening of the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle for public liturgies beginning June 28, 2020. Masses had been suspended since March 14, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel," Msgr. Jameson began the letter. Before setting out the new Mass schedule and the preparations and precautions taken at the Cathedral for the reopening, he noted the need for patience, understanding and cooperation:

The seriousness of this pandemic dictates that we follow the guidelines and safety measures given by our local authorities and health officials, and the Archdiocese of Washington. Therefore, please understand that the logistics and schedule required to offer public Masses under these guidelines will be different from those in place the last time you attended Mass. Your patience, understanding and cooperation are appreciated.
