Couples must register with the parish office by Friday, February 6, 2026 to attend the Mass and/or receive a certificate from Cardinal Robert McElroy in honor of their anniversary year. Click this announcement to learn more about registration.

Monday, February 2, is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord: bring candles to be blessed at all Masses. Tuesday, February 3, is the Memorial of St. Blaise: a blessing of throats will be conferred at all Masses.

Cardinal McElroy has announced a dispensation from the Obligation to Attend Sunday Mass - January 23, 2026. St. Matthew's will still have all regularly scheduled Masses. Stay safe!

Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Cathedral, youth from The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington are invited to participate in a Youth Mass for Life. There will be no 7:30am Mass this morning, nor Confessions and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 11am to Noon.

Ms. Mercedes Araque, our receptionist of many years, has recently retired! Because of this change, the rectory office will no longer be open on the weekends. The weekday hours, Monday through Friday—9am-4pm, will remain the same. Thank you!

The Cathedral will open at 8am on New Year's Day, January 1, and close after the 1pm Mass. The rectory office is closed Wednesday (December 31) at 2pm, through Friday (January 2). We wish you a very Happy New Year!

Masses for the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God, a holy day of obligation, will be held on Wednesday, December 31 at 5:30pm (Vigil Mass), and Thursday, January 1, at 9am, 11am, and 1pm (Spanish).

Masses for Christmas are: Wednesday, December 24 for the Vigil of Christmas at 4:30pm (4pm Prelude), and 10pm (9:15pm Prelude and Livestreamed with Cardinal McElroy as celebrant). Thursday, December 25 at 9am, 11am, and 1pm (Spanish). Merry Christmas!
