Invitation from the Archdiocese of Washington

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington invites you to join us on October 17, 2021, at 7:00 pm EDT from the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington D.C., as we celebrate a Mass to open the 2021-2023 Synod in the Archdiocese of Washington. Follow along with the readings here: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/101721.cfm. The Holy Father Pope Francis has called for a Universal Synod entitled, “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission.” The Synod encourages bishops, priests and deacons to engage with their people, and those who have left our communities, through prayer, listening, dialogue and discernment. This Synod is a great opportunity for everyone to re-engage with each other as we emerge from the global COVID-19 pandemic, allowing people to come together, invite family and friends back to the faith, listen to each other’s joys and sorrows, and share hopes and dreams for local parishes and the future of the Church. This Opening Mass will be followed by parish listening sessions, as well as Archdiocesan listening sessions.
