About Luke's Gospel

"The Gospel of Luke, the third Gospel in the New Testament canon, has a remarkable place in the study of Sacred Scripture, and this unique position does not stem solely from the fact that it is the only Gospel to have a second volume associated with it, namely, the Acts of the Apostles. Luke engenders a great deal of discussion on the level of New Testament formation, sensitivity to historical data, literary technique and theological development." (from the Introduction to The Gospel According to Luke, Part One).Besides progressing from one Gospel to the next, the essential purpose for presenting this Bible study during the fall 2021 is that beginning in Advent 2021, we commence Year C of the Lectionary Cycle  with the Gospel of Luke. Participating in our fall Bible Study of the Gospel of Luke provides a spiritual, intellectual and theological preparation to hear and reflect upon the proclamation of Year C Sunday's Gospel within a community setting.
