The episcopal ordinations of Bishop-elect Juan Esposito-Garcia and Bishop-elect Evelio Menjivar-Ayala, the two newest auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese of Washington, will be at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle at 2pm (procession at 1:30pm) on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Due to limited seating at the Cathedral, those who are interested in joining the celebration are invited to watch the livestream on the Archdiocese of Washington YouTube channel.

No 11am Confessions or Eucharistic Adoration, No 12:10pm Mass

For our regular worshippers and visitors, please note that on Tuesday, February 21, the 7:30am Mass will be celebrated, and the Cathedral will close at 8:30am in preparation for the Ordination Mass. There will be no 12:10pm Mass. Confessions and Eucharistic Adoration, normally available in the Cathedral from 11am to Noon, also will be not available.

  • Masses | 7:30am & 5:30pm 
  • No 11am Confessions or Eucharistic Adoration, no 12:10pm Mass
  • The Cathedral opens at 7am and closes at 8:30am in preparation for the 2pm Ordination Mass. The Cathedral will be open for those attending 5:30pm Mass.
