St. Matthew’s Creation Care GREEN Team, while deeply mourning, will celebrate in profound gratitude Pope Francis´ legacy of integral ecology, climate justice and Geschwisterlichkeit. We also encourage and commit ourselves to continue in the footsteps of our beloved late Pope Francis to hear "the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor" (LS 49), and to respond and act as best we can. Please join us for prayer, conversation, celebration and fellowship.
As Earth Day 2025 coincides with the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si', the 10th anniversary of the Laudato Si' Movement and the 800th birthday of St. Francis' Canticle of the Creatures, we are living at a significant tipping point for the Church and the world, calling for action to build a sustainable future and to continue in the footsteps of our beloved late Pope Francis to hear "the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor" (LS 49) - to respond and act as best we can.
