The next subject is the inspiring story of a local priest who dedicated his life to serving far beyond Washington: Priest and Beggar: The Heroic Life of Venerable Aloysius Schwartz. This deeply moving account chronicles the extraordinary life of a "bold and holy" missionary whose work among impoverished youth in post-war South Korea expanded to the Philippines and Mexico. Despite being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease, Father Schwartz’s unwavering dedication led to the founding of the Sisters of Mary religious order and countless transformative initiatives.

Written by Kevin Wells, a former Major League Baseball writer, this biography highlights the remarkable journey of a man whose faith and determination knew no bounds. Wells is also a member of the well-known Wells family, including Father David Wells and the late Msgr. Tom Wells.
