Cathedral Book Club Discussion

Join the Cathedral Book Club for a discussion of Living Buddha, Living Chriistby Thich Nhat Hanh on Monday, November 18 from 6:45 to 8pm in the East Conference Room.

Thiich Nhat Hanh has been perhaps the most well-known Buddhist teacher in the West. This Vietnamese monk is described as “a rare combination of mystic, scholar and activist.” He was nominated by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The work is described as “lucid and meditative prose” in which he explores the compassion and holiness at which Christianity and Buddhism meet. At the same time, the book’s introduction notes that Thich Nhat Hanh “does not take the easy way out of ecumenical discussion by ignoring disagreement.” His reflection on “mindfulness” presents a poetic and very readable recommendation for our times.
