We are delighted to welcome organist Nancy Freitas Novelly of Southport, NC to the Cathedral on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 12:40pm to present a 40-minute concert in our recital series celebrating the second anniversary of the completion of our Lively-Fulcher Great Organ. We are pleased once again to give our parishioners and the greater Washington, DC community the opportunity to hear marvelous music in an ideal recital setting.

This concert will be open to the public and livestreamed on our YouTube Channel. Face coverings are encouraged but not required.

Meet the Artist

Nancy Freitas Novelly has advanced degrees in Organ Performance, German, and Theology (Liturgical Studies). She is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and College, Westminster Choir College, the Norddeutsche Orgelakademie in Bunderhee, Germany, and the University of Notre Dame. Her professors have included David Boe, Bill Porter, Lisa Goode Crawford, Harald Vogel, and Joan Lippincott. 

Nancy has just retired from 41 active years as Director of Liturgy and Music for various Catholic churches in Connecticut, Florida, Maryland and Virginia. Her specialty and first love is early Baroque keyboard music. She now resides in Southport, North Carolina, enjoying more time to play organ and harpsichord, and to continue her research on the keyboard music of J.P. Sweelinck.
