As Msgr. Jameson writes in his latest letter (English) (en español), several faith formation and prayer opportunities are available and open to new participants. These include two groups doing the Little Rock study of the Gospel of Matthew via conference call, an online study series on Laudato Si’ via Zoom hosted by our Creation Care team, meetings of our catechists with Theresa Prymuszewski by conference call, Adult Confirmation Preparation classes also with Theresa by conference call, the Sunday evening Young Adult Coffeehouse with Gospel reflection via Zoom, and the Oracion por teléfono – prayer groups by conference call for our Spanish-speaking parishioners at 3pm and 9pm each day (contact Fatima Aybar). We hope you will join in these virtual events as we grow in faith alongside one another.
Msgr. Jameson and staff members explain why we're reaching out to you on this global day for giving and unity - a day when grace meets need to bring hope at St. Matthew's. Find out how to participate in support of our shared mission at St. Matthew's.
Join members of St. Matthew's Cathedral Social Justice Ministry in our online Mother's Day drive to support The Northwest Center, located in Adams Morgan. You may make a financial donation to benefit the Northwest Center through Saturday, May 16. Thank you for
A treasure chest full of St. Matthew's memories was collected during our 175th Anniversary Year, in 2015. We share during this Independence Day weekend of 2019 a memory from a parishioner who descended from Msgr. Thomas Sim Lee, the builder and first pastor of St. Matthew's Church on Rhode Island Avenue. Note also the special relationship, through Msgr. Lee, between St. Matthew's and the only Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence!
Msgr. Jameson will celebrate Mass for the Third Sunday of Easter at 11:30am on April 26, with Fr. Hurley concelebrating. The Mass will be livestreamed on the Cathedral YouTube channel, and shared on the Cathedral Facbook page. All are welcome to join our Sunday worship, which will be accompanied by organ and cantor.
Beginning March 16, the Monday after St. Matthew's Parish facilities closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, St. Matthew’s Homeless ministry staff led by Norma Canedo and Fr. John Benson, and many generous volunteers, have been serving up to 60 lunches to our guests at a morning sidewalk session. Thanks to our committed volunteers!
