Return to Ordinary Time

With the celebration of the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord on January 10, 2021, the Christmas season ended and we returned to Ordinary Time in the liturgical calendar. The Sundays of Ordinary Time take us through the life of Christ, before and after the two seasons that celebrate the central mysteries of our faith - Christmas and Easter. Why 'Ordinary'? - certainly not in the sense of 'commonplace' or 'unremarkable,' but because it uses ordinal numbering. Sunday, January 17, 2021 is the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
